How our Thoughts can affect our future

Updated: May 20

Everyone has thoughts, everyone thinks but what makes us different is that we all think differently! We don't think the same and this is the truth. This makes all of us special and unique in our own ways! I am honoured to have the privilege to speak with people who has great establishment in their life as well as the average who want their lives to pass. Guess the difference is about how they think and how they generate their thoughts.

It is amazing to discover that our thoughts can affect our life. "We are where we are today because our thoughts has brought us here and we will be tomorrow where our thoughts take us."

The biggest lesson I have learned is the stupendous importance of what we think. If I knew what you think, I would know what you are, for your thoughts make you what you are; by changing our thoughts, we can change our lives.   –Dale Carnegie

We all have many thoughts in our mind, mainly categorised into positive and negative thinking. Yes today's post is about positive thinking. And thinking positively and effectively are actually on the same side of the coin. We are unable to think effectively but have constant negative thoughts in our mind at the same time. They simply don't operate together!

When we think negatively, we need to realise that we have lost the effectiveness of our thinking and tend to focus on the problems but not the opportunities the problem contains. Have you met anyone who just kept harping on the problem and talk about the problem with no intention to seek solution? It is scary when I meet people who have tons of problems in their lives, they focus so much on their problems and at the end of the conversation they are still being consumed by their problems. I was once like that and trust me it feels good to let the whole world knows about your problem and them pitying you but that doesn't bring you far.

When we are talking about positive and effective thinking, this leads to success however success may not equate to just money alone. It can be defined in any number of ways such as

  • good body

  • great family

  • great relationships

  • great career

Now if you are able to think of some with great career, family, health, relationships, high chance is that the people who have it are people who think differently.

Now the key is - what we think determines who we are, who we are determines what we do. Therefore, our thoughts determine our destiny so isn't this a more compelling reason to rewire your thoughts and cultivate more positive thinking?

Now yes you must asking, "I want to have more positive thoughts, how do I do it?" With all the changes and challenges we face in life, it is definitely not easy to stay positive all the times however following are some of the ways which may help you cultivate positivity in your life today:

  1. Be aware of your thoughts. Have you ever listed down the thoughts you have in your mind in a day? Start tracking on your thoughts and note it down, you will be shocked at the things processing in your mind each day.

  2. Watch your Mouth! "Negative thoughts come to every person. The key is, don't verbalize them. Be positive or stay quiet". This quote is indeed simple but yet powerful. How many times have you complained about anything under the sun? Set the mood right but saying things that brings life. If you don't have anything good to say, it is better to keep our mouth shut.

  3. Start your day with contentmemnt, list out your blessings in your life and be on a positive note. Omit the sighs and complains brings a long way.

Make this change today and see how your life will change.
