Mastering Productivity when working from home

Working from home has its benefits from reducing your commute time to being able to work at the comfort of your own desk and being in your most comfortable attire however the cosy environment and having a bed next to you may be a downfall for some. Here are some tips on making full use of your 24-hours working from home!

1. Have a schedule planned out

Sounds old school? But guess what, it is true! By having a schedule planned out, you have full control of what you're giving priority to for your day and when your mind is trying to convince you to do otherwise, you know you have a schedule to keep you on task! Schedule your top 3 tasks that you want to accomplish for that day and DO NOT move down the list until you are done with the task. Stop avoiding what you need to do and work on it today!

2. Have a designated working space

Loving the idea to work wherever you want at home? Having a designated space for work sets your brain up for a working mode because it is all about our mind conditioning. I can be writing this blog at the comfort of my sofa but guess what, the chances of me switching to my favourite television show is higher than me coping in my home office. Opt for a distraction-free environment and be in full concentration when you work! Having a neat and clean working environment adds to your own working state as well so make sure you declutter your workspace regularly!

3. Focus on the minutes, not the hours

Understand the value of every single minute and allocate your tasks according to the minutes you have. Don't focus on that hour that you do not have but focus on the 20 minutes you have left and get things done. You will be amazed at how little time is needed to complete the task when you thought you probably needed longer than that.

4. Doing one thing at a time

Thinking that multi-tasking saves you time? It is scientifically proven that one takes 23 minutes to return to the original task after an interruption. Do one thing at a time and you'll discover how fast you can finish a task with full concentration.

5. Set up a Sprint Session

Setting up an undisturbed, concentrated focus on your MIT (Most Important Task) for 90 mins sets you up for success. No phones, no calls, no text, just you and your mind on your task.
